Brothers reach the ‘Harbowl’

21 January 2013

The NFL’s Super Bowl on February 3 has been dubbed the ‘Harbowl’ after head coach Jim Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers and brother John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens qualifed for the big game.

Jim’s 49ers came from behind for a 28-24 win at the Atlanta Falcons and the NFC Championship then John coached Baltimore to a 28-13 victory away to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Ray Lewis, already a Super Bowl winner with the Ravens, is going to the showpiece again in his swansong season as is San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick, a tattooed quarterback who, for 15 of his 25 years, has had a pet turtle named Sammy.

John, the elder by 15 months, asked prior to yesterday’s ‘semi-finals’ about the possibility of the brothers Harbaugh, sons of a football coach, ever meeting in a Super Bowl said: “Not that I’d admit to,” with a big grin.
