The weigh-in is always an eagerly anticipated event in the build-up to a world title fight, but Willie Monroe Jr will do well to top this.

On Saturday night, the American from Rochester will fight Billy Joe Saunders at London’s Copper Box.

But as he stepped up for his pre-fight weigh-in, Monroe Jr was given an early indication of Saunders’ power as his seven-year-old son, Stevie.

Stevie, having been tapped on the head by Monroe, unleashed a punch to the American’s groin before following it up with a kick.

The incident was caught on camera by boxing broadcasters, Box Nation, who will televise the fight on Saturday night.

His father, Billy Joe Saunders, took to Twitter after the weigh-in to defend his son’s actions.

“My sons been taught when A stranger puts their hands on them they don't know punch and run away self defence (sic),” he wrote.
