Andy Murray is attempting a unique grass-court treble this year, trying to retain his AEGON Championships title at Queen's Club followed by another bid for Wimbledon glory and then targeting gold at London 2012.
After lifting the AEGON Championships trophy without dropping a set three years ago, Murray triumphed again last year, winning a rain-delayed Monday final against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The last Briton to win three titles at Queen's was FG Lowe,
who completed his hat-trick in 1925.
"I'm excited to be going back to Queen's Club," said Murray. "It's a great tournament and the grass courts are as good as anywhere in the world, so it's the perfect preparation for Wimbledon. There's always a great atmosphere and having won the trophy twice, I have nothing but good memories. They also have one of the biggest trophies on the tennis circuit, and most of the Wimbledon champions are on it, so you know it's a big deal. I'd love to win it again this year."
Murray, guided by new coach Ivan Lendl - himself a champion at Queen's in 1989 and 1990 - began the year impressively. He won the title in Brisbane and then reached the semi‑finals of the Australian Open in Melbourne.
The AEGON Championships take place between June 11 and 17, with Wimbledon a week later and the courts at SW19 will also host the Olympic tennis event, which starts on July 28.
Great Britan's Davis Cup team, minus the injured Murray, beat Slovakia 3-2 to set up a Europe/Africa Group I second-round tie with Belgium in Glasgow in April.
Dan Evans, 21, kept his nerve to win the deciding rubber against Martin Klizan, who is ranked 156 places higher than the Brit in the world, 6-1, 6-1, 4-6, 3-6, 6-3.
Slovakia captain Miloslav Mecir was impressed by world No273 Evans and said: "If he continues playing like this I think he has a big chance to get into the top 100."
