Operation for Jansen

Paul Thomson13 April 2012

Matt Jansen, who has been left out of England's World Cup squad, will undergo a double hernia operation next week to ensure he is fit in time for next season.

The 24-year-old Blackburn striker scored in last night's 4-3 defeat at Liverpool in front of England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson but was overlooked today.

However, Blackburn manager Graeme Souness, believes England recognition will soon come for the former Crystal Palace player.

He said: "He is a player with natural ability and that degree of unpredictability that all top strikers must have. One day, Matt Jansen will play for England."
