Oosthuizen wins par-three event

Louis Oosthuizen, who won in Spain two weeks ago to grab a Masters spot, had another victory on Wednesday - but one that leaves him carrying a jinx.

Oosthuizen became the third successive South African winner of the eve-of-tournament par-three competition at Augusta National.

But now he has to try to become the first player since the fun event started in 1960 to go on to Masters glory four days later.

After Rory Sabbatini and Tim Clark won the nine-hole competition with five-under-par 22s in 2008 and 2009 respectively, Oosthuizen went one better and was only one shot outside the all-time record.

He finished two ahead of 16-year-old British amateur champion Matteo Manassero, Korean KJ Choi and Americans David Duval and Jerry Pate.

Tiger Woods did not take part, but Graeme McDowell was glad he did - he and Jim Furyk had the only holes-in-one of the day on the 135-yard last.
