O'Neil ruled out by op

Middlesbrough midfielder Gary O'Neil will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

The Teessiders confirmed on Thursday that the 24-year-old, who was injured during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Tottenham, is out of this weekend's vital Barclays Premier League clash with Bolton and will not play again before the end of the current campaign.

However, O'Neil, a £5million signing from Portsmouth, is expected to be fit for the start of next season.
