No repeat of horror show - Burns

12 April 2012

Tommy Burns is confident France will face a far stiffer test than his first game as Scotland's assistant manager.

Burns sat in awe as France crushed Berti Vogts' side 5-0 on the German's debut in his unhappy spell in charge. But Walter Smith's number two has been perfectly placed to see the transformation the former Rangers boss has inspired since taking over.

Burns said: "My memory that night is of watching a team from another planet. But I don't feel the same now as I did that night - not at all. Four years down the road and you see the group of players we have and we've developed under Walter."

He added: "There has been a recognition of what we are best at, what we need to do individually and collectively.

"The next thing after that is to try to be successful in football matches and we've done that as well.

"But we need to keep pushing to try to get a bit better.

"We're in a situation where there is quite a considerable leap to go to compete with this team.

"But it's there for them to do it. It's certainly nothing we fear. There is no fear in the body language at all."
