Murray too strong for Tursunov

12 April 2012

Andy Murray eased into the second round of the Hamburg Masters with a comfortable 6-4 6-1 victory over Russia's Dmitry Tursunov.

The Scot has struggled to make his mark on clay with only three previous victories this season, but an impressive display against an unpredictable opponent will have given him plenty of encouragement.

The British number one will face France's Gilles Simon in the second round after he beat Xavier Malisse 6-4 7-5, with the winner likely to meet second seed Rafael Nadal.
