Murdoch wants Chorley for his Dons

13 April 2012

Wimbledon manager Stuart Murdoch will this week hope to persuade Arsenal youngster Ben Chorley to join his club.

Chorley captained the Gunners to FA Youth Cup glory two years ago but he is not part of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's future plans.

Murdoch watched Chorley in a recent reserve game and said: "I want to speak to him about joining us. He's a good footballer - he's strong and a good organiser."

The Dons manager will be lifted by the return of full-back Darren Holloway to the squad for tomorrow's clash at Gillingham.

The 25-year-old defender has been out of action since November and underwent an ankle operation before Christmas. But he played the full 90 minutes in the reserve team defeat at Nottingham Forest last week.

Winger Gareth Ainsworth will continue to deputise for the injured Jobi McAnuff.

The emergence of McAnuff at the start of the season saw Ainsworth shipped out on loan to Walsall.

However, following his stint at Bescot, the 29-year-old Ainsworth has made the most of his second chance.

Murdoch said: "I can't ask any more from him. He works so hard for the team."
