Mum's the word as Sarah Ayton quits sailing

Double Olympic sailing gold medallist Sarah Ayton quit the sport today.

The 30-year-old won the Yngling in Athens with Shirley Robertson and Sarah Webb and in Beijing with Webb and Pippa Wilson.

Ayton, wed to Olympic windsurfer Nick Dempsey, said: "To succeed as an Olympic athlete you have to be pretty single minded and that's something that just doesn't sit happily when you're a mum."
