Morgan aims to see out Rovers deal

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan has broken his silence over the mounting speculation over his future, insisting he intends to see out the remaining 18 months on his contract.

The Super League club were reported to be considering Morgan's future in the wake of the team's recent poor run, culminating in Sunday's 46-16 home defeat by Warrington, but Morgan re-iterated his commitment to the Robins and says he is not under additional pressure from the board.

"I'm contracted to the club and I've got a job to do here," Morgan told the club's weekly press conference.

"Speculation doesn't help any situation really or any party.

"My job - and I'm firmly focused on it - is winning games. The immediate issues for me are making sure we improve our performance. That's been the remit from my boss and that's what I'll continue to do.

"The speculation has been very distracting for a lot of people but, in saying that, I'm working hard and I'm very focused on ensuring I get the job done.

"And, as far as I'm concerned, I'm contracted to the club and, if that changes, then no doubt everybody will be informed.

"I've got a very good working relationship with the board and my bosses. Obviously, when performances aren't great I understand that everything comes under review, just like I would review the performance of the team.

"That relationship is a very good one that has been built up over a number of years and there's a lot of goodwill that's been earned. That relationship is still as strong as ever."

Morgan has been linked with the vacancy at NRL outfit Penrith Panthers and has also been tipped to succeed Terry Matterson at Castleford, if as expected, he opts to return to Australia at the end of the year.
