Moody ruled out

12 April 2012

Lewis Moody has been ruled out of England's RBS 6 Nations opener against Scotland at Twickenham on Saturday.

The Leicester flanker has failed to recover from a shoulder injury and will be replaced on the bench by uncapped Wasps forward Tom Rees.

Rees linked up with the England squad at their Bath University base on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, England head coach Brian Ashton will wait until Friday to make a decision on Iain Balshaw, who suffered a groin injury during training on Wednesday.

Full-back Balshaw's Gloucester colleague Olly Morgan has been called up as a precaution.
