Milton Keynes battle goes on

13 April 2012

Wimbledon will press ahead with plans to move to Milton Keynes despite a second rebuff from the Football League.

As reported in Standard Sport, the League are refusing to reconsider the Dons' proposal.

However, the club are still saying they won't rule out relocation but have agreed to look at other possible sites within the borough of Merton, as suggested by Merton Council.

The club's stance brings the prospect of legal action by chairman Charles Koppel against the Football League a step closer. Koppel has sought legal advice and wishes to bring a case of restraint of trade against the League, who voted unanimously to block the move.

The club have already ruled out the site of their old ground, Plough Lane, which is now derelict.

They also rejected a council proposal to move into Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium in June, claiming it would be too expensive.

Supporters say the club deliberately refused to undertake detailed cost studies of sites within the borough.
