League Two promotion hopefuls Rotherham have confirmed that manager Ronnie Moore has left the club by mutual consent.

The Millers have gone five games without a win to drop down to sixth in the table and last Friday's 5-0 thrashing at leaders Chesterfield appears to have been the final straw. Moore was appointed as Rotherham boss for the second time in September 2009 and guided them to the play-off final last season, where they were beaten by Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 58-year-old Liverpudlian leaves the club along with assistant manager Jimmy Mullen. Andy Liddell will take over as caretaker manager until the end of the season, with Paul Warne and Andy Dibble assisting him.

A club statement read: "Rotherham United have parted company with manager Ronnie Moore and assistant manager Jimmy Mullen by mutual consent."

It added: "The club would like to place on record our thanks to Ronnie and Jimmy for their whole-hearted contribution to Rotherham United over a number of years in both playing and coaching capacities.

"Both will always be warmly received by Rotherham United and we wish them well for the future.

"Andy Liddell will be caretaker manger, assisted by Paul Warne and Andy Dibble, until the end of the season."
