Miller frustrated by defeat

Kenny Miller believes Rangers and Celtic demonstrated once again that there is no such thing as a meaningless Old Firm derby following a fiery encounter at Parkhead.

Rangers headed into the clash having already retained the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title, but it quickly became apparent that this was a match both teams were determined to win and it was Celtic who came out on top thanks to goals from Lee Naylor and Marc Antoine Fortune either side of a Miller strike.

"These games are far from meaningless," said Miller. "Whether the title is won or not, you always want to win. Nobody likes getting beat, especially in these games and we are bitterly disappointed to come away with nothing."

Lee McCulloch saw red in the final minute for a second bookable offence after a late challenge on Aiden McGeady, with the dismissal briefly sparking a melee involving both sets of players.

"It was always going to happen in an Old Firm game," said Miller.

"Incidents occur and, whether you think they are right or wrong, people get involved and it just leads to one or two people maybe saying and doing things they're not used to.

Miller seemed particularly unhappy with Hoops defender Darren O'Dea and added: "I thought every time there was a decision he was in there trying to mix it up with the referee and I just probably lost the rag a wee bit.

"It was frustration on our part because I felt we did enough to come away with a point."

This was Neil Lennon's first Old Firm derby as interim boss and Miller says he fully expected a reaction from Celtic.

He said: "We knew they were going to come out of the traps and it was an important game for them."
