Miller disappointed at suspension

12 April 2012

Scotland striker Kenny Miller cannot believe he will miss the Euro 2008 qualifier against France in October after picking up his second yellow card in two games against Lithuania in Kaunas.

The Celtic forward scored the second goal in the Scots' 2-1 win but his joy was tempered by the first-half booking which means he is suspended for the visit of the French. Miller was cautioned against the Faroe Islands in Scotland's 6-0 win on Saturday and again fell foul of the referee after a clash with Lithuania defender Rolandas Dziaukstas.

He said: "The two bookings I got have been crazy. The referee on Saturday never told me what I got booked for and then I clearly kicked the ball out of the park before there was contact. And I never made contact with their player, it was him who kicked me in my follow-through."

He added: "I have lost my place in the team now.

"If the team plays well then that's something I will have to deal with.

"I'm the person who got booked, I'm the person suspended and that's what Walter (Smith) will have to look at.

"Someone else will come into the team so we just have to wait and see.

"But it's going to be horrible watching us play France."

Miller's close-range drive just after the hour-mark doubled the visitors' lead given to them by defender Christian Dailly, who powered home a Gary Naysmith corner a minute after the break.

A late goal by Lithuania substitute Darius Miceika gave the Scots some nervy moments but Walter Smith's men held on for the three points.
