Mild to miss another three weeks

13 April 2012

Wimbledon midfielder Hakan Mild will be out for at least three weeks after he underwent an operation on his injured groin. The Swedish international has been troubled with the injury all season and has made only seven appearances for the Dons.

The 30-year-old had hoped to put off the operation until after the World Cup but such was the seriousness of the problem he has had surgery in Gothenburg.

Sweden's national team doctor Magnus Forssblad said: "We have taken a little chance. If my theory is right Hakan can play football in three weeks' time but if his groin problems are more complicated then he will be out for half a year."

Striker Neil Shipperley is struggling to return from an ankle injury in time to play at Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
