McEvoy ready to lead again

13 April 2012

Peter McEvoy says he could be "quite easily seduced" into staying captain of the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team after leading them to a second successive record victory, 15-9, over the Americans in Georgia last night.

Gary Wolstenholme, who has now played in three winning teams, said: "I wish Peter could be captain again.

"He has the ability to say the right things at the right time, which is quite a talent, and we seem to have an ability too to win things."

Meanwhile, Ireland's Paul McGinley flew to the US PGA Championship today seeking the final few points he needs to guarantee his Ryder Cup place after his play-off victory at the Wales Open.

The win lifted him from 10th to eighth in the Cup list and within touching distance of a place in Sam Torrance's 12-man team.
