Mathieu Flamini is axed from Euro squad

13 April 2012

Midfielder Mathieu Flamini was today left out of France's squad for Euro 2008.

Flamini, who quit Arsenal this month to join AC Milan, was one of seven players to be axed from a 30-man training squad for the finals in Austria and Switzerland.

Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse, who is now at Marseille, also failed to make the cut.

However, Chelsea forward Nicolas Anelka has been selected, so will play in his first finals of a tournament for France since helping them win Euro 2000, beating Italy in the final.
