Magpies agree Carr fee

Newcastle United have agreed a fee for long-time target Stephen Carr.

The Tottenham captain’s contract with the north London club has a year left to run and the club have decided to cash in the right back now rather than risk losing him for nothing.

The Republic of Ireland international is on Tyneside discussing terms with the St James’ Park club and is likely to ink a deal within the next 48 hours for a fee in the region of £1.5million.

A number of potential defenders were earmarked for the right back berth including Danny Mills, Hatem Trabelsi and Miguel but Robson has never hidden his admiration for Spurs’ marauding defender and looks to have finally landed his man.
