Mac and Tim help the kids

John McEnroe and British No1 Tim Henman came face to face across the net last night to raise more than £25,000 to try to produce a future British Wimbledon champion.

Henman won the oneset shoot-out 7-5 at the Esporta Riverside Club at Chiswick but the real winners were the kids who will benefit from their efforts.

Mc Enroe said youngsters needed encouragement to take up the game and added: "It's a case of providing the chance for kids to get out and play. It's becoming more difficult and more expensive."
