Long set for Leeds return

Hull captain Sean Long remains on course for a first-team return against Leeds on September 3.

The 33-year-old has missed his side's last six games after dislocating his elbow against the Catalans on June 26. The Leeds game, which is likely to be a direct shoot-out for fourth place in the table, was initially pencilled in for Long's return, and after returning to light training, the scrum-half is confident of making that date.

He told his club's official website: "I am back on the weights now which is good, rehabilitating my arm to build it back up and get some size back on it."

He added: "The target is still Leeds and now it is a mini pre-season for me. (Conditioner) Ben Cooper is going to be putting me through my paces and it will be tough.

"I have been getting flogged to get me back up to fitness for when I get back and I have to say I don't really enjoy it.

"I have been desperate to get the ball back in my hands too and I did get to do a little bit on my own last week.

"I was hoping to get back in with the boys on Thursday but we have decided against that now, probably because they knew I would pushing them to let me play on Friday. And they wouldn't be wrong."
