Livermore defends red card Cahill

13 April 2012

Millwall midfielder David Livermore has jumped to the defence of Tim Cahill, whose sending off soured the club's return to the top of the Second Division with a 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

Cahill was shown the red card for allegedly throwing the ball at opponent Dwayne Plummer, who was also dismissed for retaliating, but Livermore claims the referee was too harsh.

"Tim says he was just passing the ball back to Plum-mer. Tim is a really nice lad and if he says he didn't do anything bad, then I believe him," Livermore said.

Millwall, whose goals came from Cahill, Paul Moody and Neil Harris, suffered a more serious blow when centre-back Joe Dolan broke his leg.
