Lewsey out of final

12 April 2012

England winger Josh Lewsey has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup final with a hamstring strain.

Lewsey, 30, suffered the injury to his right leg just before half-time in England's 14-9 semi-final victory over France on Saturday.

A scan on Sunday night confirmed Lewsey had suffered a grade one strain and he will miss England's final showdown with South Africa this coming weekend.

A brief England statement read: "Josh Lewsey will take no further part in the tournament and will be replaced in the 30-man squad. The replacement is under consideration."
