Let's have belief, says Lewington

13 April 2012

Ray Lewington believes Watford are showing too much respect to the Championship's big clubs.

Last night's 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland extended their winless streak to five matches and the manager said: "We've got a bit of an inferiority complex against the so-called bigger sides.

"We're a good side. We've got to start showing it more and have that all-important extra quota of belief in our play. We allowed Sunderland to grow in confidence."

Watford took an early lead through Neal Ardley before a bad mistake by Neil Cox allowed Stephen Elliott to equalise.

Lewington added: "Neil held his hands up in the dressing-room but I'm not worried about the odd individual error.

"Like Danny Webber's miss against Reading, as long as the players are looking to be positive and do the right things, that's fine by me. Honest players make honest mistakes."
