League offer new TV deal

14 April 2012

Live Premiership football is set to return to terrestrial television after the Premier League today offered a new rights package from 2004-05.

Broadcasters were originally asked to bid on three packages - 38 matches on Sundays, or 38 Monday games, or 62 Saturday afternoon fixtures.

There is now a fourth package, of games to be played at 5.15pm on Saturdays.

The move is likely to give terrestrial broadcasters a greater chance, reducing the likelihood of intervention from the European Commission.

Spokesman Phillip French said: "The adjusted package will create more competition for the broadcasters."
