Lara still positive despite problems

West Indies captain Brian Lara believes his young team will overcome the problems dogging their preparations for the First Test against Australia, which starts in Georgetown, Guyana, today.

The late withdrawal of former skipper Carl Hooper and the dropping of batsman Chris Gayle for disciplinary reasons have disrupted their preparations, but Lara said: "The team is young and anxious to do well. They have not been thinking too much about the negatives that have been around and I really don't think the Australians will gain an advantage from the problems that we have been having.

"I am sure that the guys are happy to be selected. I am sure it won't affect them mentally."
