Lampard's Games bid hit

Ann Martin13 April 2012

Di Lampard, who is Britain's main hope at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez next week, has suffered a setback with her horse Abbervail Dream.

Lampard has been forced to delay Abbervail Dream's departure for Spain after the horse developed sore hooves when he was fitted with new shoes.

Lampard said: "The shoes were changed two weeks ago and it has made him very sore-footed."

Although the problem has been rectified, the horse's training has been hampered and Lampard added: "This is a setback."

The rest of the team's horses have been flown to Spain but Abbervail Dream will spend three days travelling byroad which is hardly an ideal preparation.
