Formula One driver Robert Kubica has been released from hospital in Italy to continue his rehabilitation from serious injuries sustained in a rallying accident in February.

Kubica has spent the past 10 weeks at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure after sustaining arm and leg injuries in a crash on the Ronde di Andora rally.

A statement released by the hospital via Italian website www.ivg.it, read: "Robert Kubica is no longer at the Hospital Santa Corona in Pietra Ligure. His condition is good and the driver will begin a new phase of rehabilitation outside of the hospital. Through scheduled appointments, the driver will continue to be monitored by the doctors who have treated him at Santa Corona."

The Pole was forced to undergo four surgical procedures after sustaining multiple fractures and a partially severed right hand in the crash on February 6.

After being taken off the critical list, Kubica underwent extensive rehabilitation and is now ready to begin a further programme under the supervision of Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli, who runs the Italian sports clinic 'Formula Medicine'.

"As soon as I leave hospital, I'll head to my home in Monaco for a short period of rest," Kubica said on Thursday. "Then I'll move to Dr Ceccarelli's facilities where I will start a deep rehabilitation program and a preliminary soft training programme."

The accident has almost certainly ruled Kubica out of the entire 2011 F1 season, which he was due to contest for Renault.

His place at the Enstone-based team has been taken by Nick Heidfeld but Kubica remains hopeful he will be back behind the wheel of an F1 car soon.

Speaking before his release, Kubica said: "I am starting to feel a lot better now.

"My recovery is moving in the right direction. My strength and weight are increasing day on day."
