Knights edge out the Jesters

Paul Fielder13 April 2012

Successful penalty shots by Mikko Koivunoro, Claude Jutras and Rich Bronilla saw London Knights clinch a 3-2 victory over Newcastle Jesters last night.

The win sees London reclaim second place in the Sekonda Superleague. The game had finished tied at 2-2 after the over-time period with Knights again suffering indiscipline. Both Nicky Chinn and Lee Sorochan were thrown off the ice as London clocked up 77 penalty minutes.

Former Newcastle player Koivunoro cancelled out Jari Suorsa's first period opener before assistant coach Paul Rushforth put London in front early in the third period.

Four minutes later Newcastle sent the game into overtime when Rob Wilson scored on the powerplay after Mikael Tjallden was penalised for high sticks.
