Kessler targets the English vote

13 April 2012

Mikkel Kessler has cranked up the tension ahead of Saturday's triple world title clash in Cardiff with Joe Calzaghe by claiming it will be England against Wales.

The Dane, who is putting his WBC and WBA titles on the line, yesterday revealed he has English family and said: "My mother comes from Salisbury and a few years ago I found out I had an English brother as well. He is a few years older than me, called Mark and lives in Lincolnshire.

National anthem: Calzaghe and Kessler

"My mother and brother are both English, so in a way this is like England v Wales. I support England at football when Denmark aren't playing and will be wearing the English flag on my shorts as well as the Danish one.

"English fans should be supporting me, not Joe. Fighting in Wales will take the pressure off me and it will be all on Joe."
