British No1 Anne Keothavong will have surgery on her injured knee next week.

Keothavong, who ran into a fence post during a doubles game in California last week, said on her Twitter.com site today: "Saw the surgeon Jonathan Webb today and he'll operate on me next Tuesday."

The 25-year-old will miss the rest of the season as a result of the surgery.

Sixth seed Marin Cilic, of Croatia, suffered a surprise 7-5, 64 defeat to Indian qualifier Somdev Devvarman in the second round of the ATP Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.
