Kember silent as Palace lose again

14 April 2012

Crystal Palace slumped to their second defeat in four days thanks to Michael Branch's 42nd-minute strike for Bradford at Selhurst Park.

Palace dominated for long spells and the lively Andy Johnson wasted a clear chance in the 15th minute, but they could not find a way past Marlon Beresford.

They paid the price for their poor finishing when Cedric Berthelin failed to hold a shot from Paul Evans and Branch followed up. Neil Shipperley came closest to equalising.

Palace have now taken only one point from their last possible 12. Fans jeered the players off at the end and it proved all too much for Palace manager Steve Kember, who refused to talk to the media after the game.

But Bradford's Nicky Law said: "We came with a game plan as we defended well and every individual knew his job. It was a professional performance from everyone."

Striker Ade Akinbiyi has signed a three-year deal with Stoke City for an undisclosed fee. The former Leicester man said: "When I came to Stoke on loan last season, everyone made me feel at home and I haven't forgotten that."
