Keane must up offer for McCartney

In a tussle: West Ham could make a big profit on McCartney
13 April 2012

West Ham could make a big profit on George McCartney with his former club Sunderland expected to raise their £4.5million offer for the left-back.

Sunderland sold him for £1.5m two years ago but now want him back and although their opening bid was rejected a larger one could be successful as Alan Curbishley has been told he must trim his squad this summer.

McCartney (above) was sold following their relegation but a return to Wearside under Roy Keane is thought to appeal to the player although he signed a new contract last year.

Among other players likely to be leaving are defender John Pantsil and striker Bobby Zamora, who have both been given permission to talk to Fulham.
