Kanu clear for Sunday

Kanu: free to play for Arsenal
14 April 2012

Nwankwo Kanu will be available to play for Arsenal at Aston Villa on Sunday after training with the club today.

It was feared the striker would have to report for African Nations Cup duty with Nigeria this week.

With both Dennis Bergkamp and Sylvain Wiltord certain to miss the game at Villa Park through injury and with Jeremie Aliadiere out for three weeks with an injured knee, Arsene Wenger has a shortage of strikers.

Kanu may also be available for the first leg of the Carling Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough next Tuesday at Highbury.

He is waiting on a reply to his request to Nigeria's football association asking if he can report for national duty next Wednesday.
