Kanu adds to Arsenal 'woes'

13 April 2012

Nigeria are set to add to Arsenal's international 'worries' by calling up Nwankwo Kanu for a friendly fixture next week.

But they have told Arsene Wenger not to worry - because the striker will only have to travel eight miles to get there.

Kanu has been confirmed in the Nigerian squad to face Jamaica next Wednesday, but the game is being played at QPR's Loftus Road ground.

A Nigerian FA spokesman said: "I don't think that is too far for Kanu to travel."

Not surprisingly, the match has been greeted with a lot less fuss at Highbury than was reserved for France's controversial trip to Australia for a friendly this month.

An Arsenal spokesman said: "We're planning to be without Kanu next week."
