Kanoute gets Izzet apology

Muzzy Izzet has apologised to Freddie Kanoute for the horror tackle that has put him on the sidelines for a possible two months.

The Leicester midfielder insisted there was nothing malicious about the challenge and wished the former West Ham striker a speedy recovery.

A scan revealed the Frenchman had suffered ligament damage following Izzet's tackle in Spurs' win over Leicester on Sunday.

Izzet said: "I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt him in any way."

Either Helder Postiga, who is fit again after his hamstring problem or Bobby Zamora will partner Robbie Keane up front.

Defenders Ledley King, Christian Ziege and Anthony Gardner are back in the squad.

Meanwhile, Glenn Hoddle has hired a public relations consultant to handle his media affairs.

Hoddle, who had a difficult relationship with the media as manager of England and Tottenham, has signed up Jon Tibbs, a 42-year-old PR expert who has a high international profile as a former consultant for Athens' successful bid for the 2004 Olympics.
