Kaneria strikes for Pakistan

14 April 2012

Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria picked up two quick wickets against England during the afternoon session at Headingley - including the prize scalp of Kevin Pietersen.

Stand-in captain Andrew Strauss (102 not out) and Marcus Trescothick (58) put on 158 for the first wicket before the latter sliced low to second slip off Umar Gul.

Alastair Cook then pushed forward to Kaneria, with the ball popping up to Faisal Iqbal via an inside edge. Pietersen was undone by Kaneria's googly, which turned back between bat and bad to bowl the dangerous Hampshire star.

But Strauss remained focused and brought up three figures by cutting a wide delivery for four.
