Jens in trouble over ref-soaking incident

Jens Lehmann is in trouble with UEFA for soaking a referee. European football's governing body are set to discipline the Arsenal goalkeeper after the incident with Massimo de Santis on Wednesday night.

Disappointed Lehmann threw down a water bottle as he left the pitch after his side went out of the Champions League to Bayern Munich and it splashed the official.

The German apologised and claims it was an accident but De Santis mentioned it in his match report. UEFA's control and disciplinary body, who could fine, ban or warn Lehmann, will look at the case on 24 March.

Team-mate Robin van Persie today admitted his own on-field behaviour has been "stupid" but vowed to learn from his mistakes.

The 21-year-old Dutch forward was sent off at Southampton two weeks ago and said: "If I could rewind time I would. I'm not a dirty player."
