Irish in need of quick fix

London Irish will attempt to use their difficult Parker Pen Challenge Cup game against Narbonne at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday to regain lost momentum after a 36-15 Zurich Premiership defeat by Northampton.

The result was a second successive home loss for the Irish - who now slip to fifth spot in the Premiership table - and they need success in the European competition to rebuild their confidence.

Prop Rob Hardwick and the back-row trio of Paul Gustard, Declan Danaher and Chris Sheasby all missed yesterday's game through injury, hampering Irish's attempts to consolidate a top-three place.

London Wasps won the Parker Pen Challenge Cup last season after a home and away double over Stade Francais turned their season around and that is a path the Irish must now follow.
