Injured Eidur to miss start of season

Eidur Gudjohnsen is set to miss the start of the season after failing to appear for Chelsea's reserves against Woking last night.

The Icelandic striker, who has a knee injury, is losing his battle to be fit for Saturday's opening game against Charlton. Chelsea are also likely to be without Emmanuel Petit and Graeme Le Saux.

Jody Morris, who is on trial for an alleged assault in a London night club, rushed to the match at Kingfield after a day in court.Conference side Woking held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in front of a crowd of 3,713.
