India clinch one-day series

13 April 2012

India clinched the fifth and deciding one-day international against Pakistan by 40 runs after a dominating performance in Lahore.

After setting a challenging target of 293 for seven from their 50 overs, the Indian bowlers then brilliantly controlled their hosts response - an excellent seventh wicket partnership of 99 between Shoaib Malik and Moin Khan aside.

The pair came together with the score on 96 for six, and briefly threatened a remarkable turnaround in the match until Malik was dismissed in the 41st over.

After that, apart from a couple of loose overs, India closed out the Pakistan innings with some tight and accurate bowling to clinch a famous 3-2 series win.
