Hull terminate Tansey contract

Hull have terminated the contract of full-back Jordan Tansey with immediate effect for disciplinary reasons.

The 24-year-old former Leeds utility player has been sacked just four days before the start of the new Super League season after a third breach of club discipline in 12 months.

In a statement, the club said: "Hull FC have terminated the contract of Jordan Tansey with immediate effect following disciplinary action. The club will be making no further comment."

Tansey, who joined the club from Sydney Roosters 18 months ago, made 25 appearances for the club last season.

But he was dropped for the round four game against Harlequins and a 22-match run was ended when he was left out of Hull's team for the play-off defeat by Hull KR after another misdemeanour.

The last straw came nine days ago when he was omitted from the side to play Castleford in a pre-season friendly.

Utility player Richard Whiting is expected to take Tansey's full-back spot when Hull kick off the new season with a derby against Hull KR at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday, the second day of the Magic Weekend in Cardiff.
