Hull back to winning ways

Hull FC reinforced their top-four aspirations as they returned to winning ways with a convincing 28-14 victory against Super League strugglers Catalans Dragons.

Scoring five tries to their opponents' three, Hull dictated proceedings after going ahead in the eighth minute through England winger Tom Briscoe and they never looked in danger of surrendering their lead.

Bouncing back from their Magic Weekend defeat to Harlequins, an impressive defensive display led by an outstanding individual performance by Mark O'Meley saw Hull pick up two points which moves them to within a point of fourth-placed Bradford Bulls.

Salford replicated their famous win over St Helens last season with a thrilling 42-34 victory at The Willows.

This nip-and-tuck affair could have gone either way but Ryan Boyle's late score gave the Reds, who outscored their opponents eight tries to six, another memorable victory over the Saints, who came into this one on back of six-game winning run and desperate for two points to keep pace with leaders Wigan.
