Henman injury 'not serious'

12 April 2012

Tim Henman hopes to recover quickly from injury after a scan revealed he does not have a serious knee injury.

Henman was injured when he lost his match against Poland's Stanislas Wawrinka in Basle.

He told his official website, www.timhenman.org: "The results of the scan on my right knee have revealed no serious problems. I twisted it during my match against Stanislas Wawrinka in Basle."

He added: "It was very painful in the third set and very swollen when I woke up the next day and there's some inflammation of my hamstring and knee but I've been told it's nothing serious. I'm hoping it will settle down and the injury will heal with rest."

Henman admitted the injury had come at a time when he could afford to take time off.

"If there's such a thing as a good time to be injured I guess it's now at the end of the season when I'd be having some time off anyway," he said.

"Having said that, though, I'm keen for it to clear up as soon as possible so I can make the most of the off-season ahead of next year."
