Henley starts without Sir Steve

The 153rd Henley Royal Regatta began today without Sir Steve Redgrave, the five-time Olympic gold medal winner who made his final appearance last year.

Despite his absence, thousands will brave the weather and line the banks of the Thames for the five-day competition.

Redgrave's Olympic team-mates Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell are tipped as favourites to win the coxless pairs.
