Hendrie loses red card appeal

14 April 2012

Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has lost his appeal against his sending off against Manchester City at the weekend.

Hendrie was dismissed for violent conduct by referee Mike Riley after he feigned a headbutt in the direction of defender Danny Mills. He will now serve an automatic three-match ban.

Hendrie could also face further punishment after being charged with improper conduct for failing to leave the pitch promptly by the Football Association.

He has until 6pm today to respond to that charge and the case will be heard by the disciplinary commission next Tuesday.
