Hatton relishing next challenge

12 April 2012

Ricky Hatton is relishing his big chance to bounce back from defeat to Floyd Mayweather in a homecoming fight against Juan Lazcano at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Hatton will take on the low-key Texan on May 24 as he bids to build back towards another major world title fight - and reward the supporters who have followed his career both home and abroad.

For staunch Manchester City fan Hatton the opportunity is a dream come true and he said: "I've been talking for God knows how many years that I'd love one day to fight at City's ground."

He added: "It was always a dream to come and fight at my beloved Man City and now the dream's come real.

"I've done so many things in my career: I've won six world titles, two different weight divisions, I've fought for the best pound-for-pound title in the world, I've topped the bill in Vegas; I've done so much.

"But the time was right to come back and say thankyou to the fans, not only to the fans that went over to Vegas. Not everyone can afford to go over to Vegas every time we have a fight."
