Hatton homes in on his dream fight with Tszyu

Ricky Hatton should learn today that a career-defining fight with light-welterweight king Kostya Tszyu is closer to reality.

Hatton's promoter, Frank Warren, was flying home from Las Vegas, where he had watched Danny Williams, after agreeing terms with Tszyu's promoter. If contracts are signed, Hatton will face the Russian in Manchester next Spring.

It is understood Tszyu, the International Boxing Federation champion, will be paid £2million for fighting on Hatton's home turf.

Warren said: "This is probably the most money I've paid for a fighter outside the heavyweight division to box in England. It cost an arm and a leg."

Hatton confirmed he is up for Tszyu when he became the first boxer to stop American Ray Oliveira, at the ExCel Arena in London's Docklands, to defend his WBU belt for a 15th time.
