Hasselbaink charged after Scarborough affair

The Football Association today decided to charge Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink with violent conduct after viewing video evidence of an incident in the FA Cup tie against Scarborough.

The Chelsea striker appeared to elbow Scarborough defender Mark Hotte as both players lay on the ground following a tackle and, although referee Barry Knight missed the incident, the FA have decided to charge the Dutchman.

The ban is the last thing coach Claudio Ranieri needs at this time, since he is already without injured Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo.

Chelsea today confirmed that Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech will be joining them from Rennes in the summer, while Scott Parker also completed his move from Charlton.
